French Battalion #7

I know it's not the most original of titles but it does the job.
I have finally finished all 6 companies of the Battalion. All that is left is the Regimental command stand with the Eagle, and part 1 is done.

The Battalion in all it's glory.

How the battalion looks in attack column formation.

Thats it for now.
Cheers and happy christmass.

French Battalion #6

I've got 4 bases now done, and I'm pleased with the result. I'm still not sure about the shape and size of the command stand though. I think I will wait till all the command figures are painted and then work out the base.

The 4 finished companies.

An idea of how an attack column will look.

I changed the name of my Blog as I've finally come to terms with the fact I that I like games in the Grand Manner. Lots of big battalions with plenty of action going on. It does mean I have a lot of figures to paint, but as I enjoy that part of the hobby well OK.
The first target is to have 9 battalions a side. Both French and Allied. 1 Battery of guns, and a Regiment of Cavalry. Will be a couple of years work, but I will have a good looking game when done. Once this core is finished then I can go where my fancy takes me.
Cheers.

French Battalion #5

The first 2 companies have been based. I decided to base my finished companies to inspire me to finish the rest. Unfortunately I have run out of bases. Still I have finished painting the next company the 3rd, and will base it up when I get some more supplies.

Cheers.

French Battalion #1

I decided I wanted to start painting Napoleonic figures again. So instead of getting something new I decided to look in the lead pile. I found enough figures to do a 1815 French Battalion. The miniatures are by Elite which I love to paint. I am planning on painting a 6 figure company a week. I will need to get some skirmish figures but that will be a small investment. If I can get this done by christmass I will be happy.

The whole of the battalion.

The first company ready for undercoat. This is the Grenadier company.

Next post tomorrow with the first paint added.
Cheers.

Kharkov 43' #4

I have been busy with the Kharkov project. Some new vehicles and figures. Also a set of rules.
The rules I'm going to be using are Battlegroup. I have watched a few batreps on YouTube, and I think they will give me the game I am looking for.

Panzer 3L by Plastic Soldier Company.

The mud effects added.

The start of my collection.

Some of my figures my CP models.

Plastic Soldier Company 251/1c, with CP models Grenadiers.

Well thats the project so far. More vehicles and Infantry and even aircraft to add.
Cheers.

Polish Winged Hussar.

The other day while sorting out some boxes I found a pack of 15mm Essex Polish Winged Hussars. I decided to give one a paint and see what I could do. Well I think it turned out rather good.

It's amazing the detail on this old model. It's inspired me to finish the other 3, and maybe do a small Polish force.

Kharkov 43' #3.

The Panzer 2f is painted. I'm just waiting on a Commander and some decals.

The kit was nice and easy to build, and I am pleased with how the whitewash came out.
Cheers.

Kharkov 43' #2

I have finished the Panzer grey colour on my Panzer 2 and I was going to cover it in whitewash. Unfortunately it looks too good and I could use it for my 41' games. I am going to wait for my Kharkov Germans to turn up before I make a decision. If the figures are great I will whitewash it. If not it will stay Panzer grey.

Cheers.

Kharkov 43' #1

The first build in my Kharkov 43' project. There is not much to say about the project as nothing has been finalised.
I have had this kit for longer than I can remember but just never got round to building it. It is an old Matchbox Panzer 2 F now made by Revell.
It went together really well, and for a kit from the 70's is really rather good.

I added green stuff to the turret to blend all the parts together, and give it a bit of texture. I have left the hatch off as I want to add a commander figure to it.
It will be painted in a winter white wash scheme. It will give me a chance to try out some chipping techniques.
Cheers.

Prussian Dragoons WIP #2.

I've finished the command figure for the Dragoons. He's in a slightly different uniform than the troopers. He has not got a coat on he is just wearing his Kollet. Another great figure to paint.

I have started to add them to their bases as well.

Cheers.

Polish Napoleonic Command Base.

I did this base a few months ago. The figures are by http://murawskiminiatures.com. They are nice to paint with a lot of detail.

Highly recommended.

Cheers.

Prussian Dragoons WIP #1.

I've just started on the Prussian Dragoons. This is a unit of 6 figures and represents the Lithuanian Regiment. So far I have painted a trooper and a trumpeter. I have just started work on the officer.

More progress photo's to follow. Figures by Calpe.
Cheers.

An update at last.

Thought I'd give an update on my painting progress on the Blog. Posted on various Facebook groups but forget to update here. Bit of a p...
