Small victories.

Yesterday I put the finishing touches to a couple of small projects that had been hanging around for quiet a while (years in 1 case).

I finally painted the 6pdr to go with my French horse artillery. Also the last figure of a 6 strong Prussian Jaeger unit.

The crew are by Elite miniatures, and the gun is from Calpe miniatures.

Figures from Calpe miniatures.

2019 New start, old projects.

So the start of a new year normally means the start of a new project. Not for me this year. I've decided to go back to my core and concentrate on those projects that mean the most to me.

First up is Napoleonic's. This has always been my main interest so most of my time will be spent on it. I finished a line battalion at the beginning of the month, and I'm well on my way to finishing a second.
I'm also starting on a French cavalry force. First with Hussar's, then some Chasseurs.

Second I'm going to consolidate my 6mm WW2 and Modern collection. My 1941 Eastern front project is nearly done. Just a few support weapons for that.
My modern project has all it's troops and vehicle's, I just need to work on some terrain.

Well thats all for now. I'll share a few pictures of my Napoleonic work in progress.

Cheers.

More work on my French battalion.

Slowly getting my 1st French battalion finished. Re-did the Eagle. Added a hand made cravat and a new flag. Also finished a 6 figure skirmish unit of lights. When these are deployed the close order stand will be removed.

Cheers.

French Battalion #7

I know it's not the most original of titles but it does the job.
I have finally finished all 6 companies of the Battalion. All that is left is the Regimental command stand with the Eagle, and part 1 is done.

The Battalion in all it's glory.

How the battalion looks in attack column formation.

Thats it for now.
Cheers and happy christmass.

French Battalion #6

I've got 4 bases now done, and I'm pleased with the result. I'm still not sure about the shape and size of the command stand though. I think I will wait till all the command figures are painted and then work out the base.

The 4 finished companies.

An idea of how an attack column will look.

I changed the name of my Blog as I've finally come to terms with the fact I that I like games in the Grand Manner. Lots of big battalions with plenty of action going on. It does mean I have a lot of figures to paint, but as I enjoy that part of the hobby well OK.
The first target is to have 9 battalions a side. Both French and Allied. 1 Battery of guns, and a Regiment of Cavalry. Will be a couple of years work, but I will have a good looking game when done. Once this core is finished then I can go where my fancy takes me.
Cheers.

French Battalion #5

The first 2 companies have been based. I decided to base my finished companies to inspire me to finish the rest. Unfortunately I have run out of bases. Still I have finished painting the next company the 3rd, and will base it up when I get some more supplies.

French Battalion #1

I decided I wanted to start painting Napoleonic figures again. So instead of getting something new I decided to look in the lead pile. I found enough figures to do a 1815 French Battalion. The miniatures are by Elite which I love to paint. I am planning on painting a 6 figure company a week. I will need to get some skirmish figures but that will be a small investment. If I can get this done by christmass I will be happy.

The whole of the battalion.

The first company ready for undercoat. This is the Grenadier company.

Next post tomorrow with the first paint added.
Cheers.

Lighting the cabin.

I finished my cabin by Perry Miniatures, added a base made from a place mate. To add a little bit of extra detail i placed a battery operate...
